HackTheBox: Forensics Challenge, Took the Byte Walkthrough

Someone took my bytes! Can you recover my password for me?

Hello,

CyberChef tool is used to solve this challenge, you can download it or use it from https://gchq.github.io/CyberChef/

I started by unzipping the file then uploaded it in the CyberChef.

I used XOR Brute Force to figure out the key

After many attempts, I got the key which is ff , so I went to XOR and wrote the key.

A password.txt appeared as a result

As shown in the picture below, the file password.txt has the flag
